the end of the beginning or the beginning of the end?
I'm seriously thinking about giving up my blog. Since two out of three people who actually read it are the ones I talk with every single day (one in England living lady excluded ;)). Soap drama and other questions enough still though.. Why telling lies is a part of our social culture for example.. Or why and when it so interesting to gossip about others and what's the social function of that. Or why people are so afraid to be themselves. Why we feel saver in groups than alone even if this compromises your own opinion. etc etc.
But whether this is really blog-material? It's not Aline-in-Pisa anymore anyway.. And why do I write in english still? :P

girl, maybe you can take my place in the climbing club then :p . Abseilen is soooooo boring, really :p .
Anyway, telling lies is not a good thing, i've never thought that. May be that's where the whole 'Florig onsubtiel' comes from, however, being subtile does not necessarily involve lying.
Though there's always the question: How much not-telling does one need before it actually turns into lying?
Btw, whose nose is that on the right side of the picture? It looks vaguely familiar.....
I didn't mean I wanted to abseil more (i mean, it takes three seconds and then you're down). But just standing on top of the psychology building was fun, and just to do something different from what you normally do is great, it enhances the spirit.
And lying or not telling something (which might be even worse) is completely incorporated in daily life, even though you might think not. Even you, how much of your straight-forwardness is really straight-forward?
Seriously, when you count during a week or a day even how often you don't tell something or lie, it more often than you think!
Ofcourse it has a function.. I think you would be constantly in a fight with everyone if you would always tell the truth! hehe :)
grappig... en nog altijd in het Engels?
Liegen klint een beetje pessimistisch. We hebben gewoon allemaal goed geleerd hoe we dingen moeten inpakken, deel van onze social skills (en ja hoor, toch weer een Engels woordje tussendoor!). Maar ik denk dat over het algemeen de Engelsen dat nog vaker doen dan de Nederlanders. Ze zijn hier altijd zo ontzettend bang voor ongemakkelijke situaties, dat ze liever liegen. En dan bedoel ik dus niet inpakken. En het is niet zoveel anders als de mexicaanse "ik moet mijn haar wassen vanavond" - smoes! Heel anders dan in Canada, waar het allemaal veel gemakkelijker ging. Die hebben over het algemeen meer zelfvertrouwen in sociale situaties, denk ik.
En in NL... ergens daartussen in misschien?

Nja tis gewoon dat ik het leuker vind om in het engels te schrijven (ik denk ook vaak in het engels), anders was ik er allang mee opgehouden ;)
En ja het was een beetje pessimistisch ;) Maar soms word je opeens heel erg geconfronteerd met de aard van mensen in het algemeen [door meerdere mensen op hetzelfde moment] En toen vroeg ik me opeens af waarom we eigenlijk zo werken en hoe ons dat voordeel oplevert..
Ik denk dat het omzeilen van ongemakkelijke situaties er toch toe leidt dat mensen uiteindelijk (als ze dat heel vaak doen) gefrustreerd raken.. Hehe ik voel me ook altijd beter als ik iets naar iemands hoofd slinger :P Het is natuurlijk niet altijd nuttig :) Maar soms zijn dingen makkelijker, of meer straight-forward als men altijd de waarheid zou spreken, ookal pijnlijker. Maar then again kan je mening ook van tijd tot tijd veranderen wat dan minder hard overkomt als je af en toe niet helemaal de waarheid verteld.. Hahaha ik kan hier nog wel eeuwig over filosoferen
