Floor's visit & Rome
Pfff where to start? It's been too long since I last posted and so many things have happened! I am now in Holland again (yes I always use Holland instead of the Netherlands now, Italian habit..). Already almost a week here has past, it is going all too fast again! Well, let's start at the end of my last post, when Floor was coming to visit me.. I was going to pick her up at the airport, but at the time she had to arrive in Pisa, her plane hadn't left Liverpool yet, so eventually it was a bit late.. :) Ofcourse there were no more busses or trains after 23.00u (which was actually kind of surprising to me, because I assumed that an airport is quite good connected), so we had to take a taxicab. Luckily the guy was very friendly and we were dropped off at my home, after which we stayed up waaay too long to chat up and talk about all our friends :P The next morning (thursday) I had to work ofcourse and Floor hang around in Pisa.. We had lunch together in the sun ;) and in the evening dinner in a simple pizzaplace.. The waiter was very very annoying, which I never had had before there.. but when I started to order some dessert in Italian he all of a sudden became very very friendly... Yes, foreign speaking people are still not very much appreciated.. Does not seem like a reason to me to be absolutely rude (he stood next to Floor and clicked his pen because he wanted us to order!), so even though he smiled and joked and was nice the last half of dinner, we didn't tip him :P Then we stayed up way too late again (again 4 in the morning or so :)) The next day Floor went to Firenze and I worked again ofcourse.. Ilaria was sick, but didn't want to go home, because she had to work for Francesco.. Convincing her to go home didn't really work.. In the evening Floor and I went to eat in a very cute Indian place.. I had seen the place already before and it looked so nice and colourful, that i really wanted to go there.. The food was quite ok, but not so hot at all as I expected.. I'm quite bad at remembering things, I think we watched Pride&Prejudice on thursday evening (again hahahahaha) and not on friday evening, but I can't remember.. Anyway it was a lot of fun to comment on the movie hehe and I think I can produce quite some of the lines from memory now :)
On saterday we went to............Rome!!
Haha we were both very happy to go there.. It is really one of my favourite cities in the world, I always feel at home there somehow.. We got up really early 6 or so to catch the train of 7.40u.. Ofcourse we were there way too early because we weren't sure if the busses would go.. But that gave us time for coffee and thee.
On the way to Rome I kept saying that the weather would be great in Rome and Floor kept telling me that I shouldn't jinx it (or however you write that...) .. So when we arrived at 11.45 the weather was absolutely great. Floor had taken her short pants and I have taken my dress and we had decided that we would go "flaneren". So no touristy things.. Haha very bad because we kept telling the people we ran into that we were only here for two days and that we didn't go to any specific "attractions" because we had been to Rome so many times before hahaha (and they always looked at us strangely.. haha) But it is true anyway haha.. So we just walked around the city a bit.. and dropped our stuff off at the hostel (we were kind of afraid that all our stuff would be gone when we came back..) In front of the Pantheon (ok, we did go in there, but that is just because it is my favourite building, that roof is sooooo beautiful) a guy who was handing out flyers padded Floor on the head with one of them and smiled cutely.. Floor and I decided that that was the cutest pass anyone made at either of us during the weekend.. And trust me when I say that lot's of passes were made hahaha.. Reálly I don't know whether it was Rome, the sun, Floor's blond hair, our naked knees, or anything else that caused the many looks and ciao's... We were kind of shocked that apparently any guy between 18 and 65 can make a pass at you even decent looking guys in suits and all! I mean at the other side of a traffic-light a nice looking guy in a suit was making a kiss-mouth at me! Seriously, when you are 35 or something! We were always somewhere in between smiling (the worst thing you can do, I think all Italian girls never smile, because smiling is appreciated a little bit too much..) or hitting them on the head with a book..
Hehe anyway, the sun was shining a lot, so we went to relax and sit in the sun often and walked around a bit, also along the river which was very nice, I love the water! We also went to the Jewish neighbourhood, which I hadn't seen before, but all the shops were closed because it was saterday.. In the evening we went to eat at... Da Baffetto ofcourse haha.. There was a long line and we didn't really feel like waiting.. Everytime the owner opened the door and said due or tre to say how many people were allowed to go in.. And everyone was shouting with how many people they were.. There were around 9 people in front of us and they were all in groups of three.. So then the door opened and they all said, tre, tre! But there was only room for two, so Floor and I said really loud due, due!! Hahahaha so we went in really quickly and could enjoy our pizza haha..
Pfff so much to tell!
In the evening we hang around a bit and then went back to the hostel.. No need to say that we were very tired! On sunday we made a trip to the auditorium, near Villa Borghese.. Very nice architecture, we made a lot of pictures there (mine didn't turn out that great... :S) We then went back by tram to the park Borghese and ate some very nice food (we were both getting a bit annoyed of hunger :P) and then we went to lay in the park! In the sun! With flowers! With books! Hahaha sorry, it was just so great to be in the sun and relax.. Haha we did a lot of that in the weekend, relaxing.. Around five we had a few more hours before our train left and we had given up hope on meeting Rico :P tssk tssk (who was also in Rome because of the elections, funny coincidence!) and the sun was going down, so we decided to go the Irish pub near Da Baffetto and have a snakebite! Suprisingly enough they understood the concept of snakebites and I was scared to pay 10 euros for two (!) untill I realised that in Holland they also cost 4,30 each.. The soccermatch Liverpool-Manchester was on, so we watched a bit, and we discovered van der Sar in the goal!! :) We also met some Australian guys with burning crosses printed on their shirts O_o Apparently they were on a mission from their bishops from all over Australia to go to Rome and have praying sessions... And they were...yes.... absolutely drunk! Funny guys though... Floor thought that one of the guys was very cute, while I thought that he was quite ugly, but we already knew that we hadn't the same taste :P (dark ftw! :P) Haha sorry hehe.. Anyway, one of the guys insisted on buying him and his friend and us shots, but we kindly refused and were happy with our second pint of snakebite :) But after Floor had mentioned that he should drink whiskey in an Irish pub, he all got us shots (O_o) of whiskey... Yes, shots... (?) Floor and I sipped nicely while they took it down in one go (as I said, they were drunk).. The rest of the Christian group had already left them and they were supposed to meet them at the prayersession (yes, straight from the pub).. Hehe we were very afraid that they would never be able to find them back, so we talked some sense into Floor's semi-chick (new word of the weekend :P) and after another shot of something they left us.. So then Floor realised that we had to take the train in an hour, and we were quite well... how shall I put it.. not totally sober anymore.. I was glad that Floor knew the way (I think her panicking-skills took over..) because all I could do is giggle all the way hahahaha... So we went to the hostel really quickly and managed to get train tickets and sandwiches and make it to the train in time hahaha.. It was so hilarious! It was really a perfect ending of the trip... Haha so we had four hours to become relativaly normal again hehe.. And then we walked home..
On monday we went to the airport, everything went quite smoothly.. no one made any trouble about Floor's violin (quite the opposite to Liverpool...) and when we arrived in Eindhoven our very cheeeeesy boyfriends were waiting for us with roses (crazy guys..).
Maybe I will wait with the story of this week in Maastricht for a next post, because this is long enough ;)
Anyway, had a lot of fun with Floor in Rome, and we indeed came back tanned! :P
