musica!

After recycling my cd's and mp3's for quite a while, i finally started listening to some new music. Besides progressive rock from the seventies (thanks to Giancarlo for that :P) i want to start with something a little more in my league.. ;) For the ones living in the Netherlands, you might have seen the "WE" commercial in which the song from Meredith Brooks - Bitch (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bitch_%28Meredith_Brooks_song%29) is covered in a slow jazzy kind of way. This dutch band is called "Room Eleven" (www.roomeleven.nl)! I listened repeatedly to their cd these last weeks and i quite like it! It could be a little bit more jazzy to my taste though and some songs don't feel completely right. But i think it is a nice way of adding some jazz to the Dutch pop circuit..
On the more poppy-side i also liked quite a lot this young Scottish fellow Paolo Nutini (yes Scottish :P) (www.paolonutini.com) You can watch and hear some of his music on the site.. Catchy pop :) I especially like Last request and Autumn, but more happy songs like New shoes are also quite ok. The lyrics are not quite brilliant yet, but he's young, he can learn :P
With music I usually have a taste for good lyrics and strong voices.. And then a little bit raw and not too overproduced.. Somehow the instruments only really matter when I listen to completely instrumental music.
Instrumental music I've listened to lately: the instrumental songs from King Crimson (like Providence and Red) and NOT the non-instrumental ones :P Toooo seventies..
And Rachmaninov piano concerts... beautiful.. And also quite good to relax to :)
Too bad I cannot actually let you listen to some of these songs, but well everyone knows how to get it no? :P
